심리생리적 측정방법을 이용한 한국과 미국의 커뮤니케이션 연구 분석: 심장혈관계, 근육, 피부 측정을 중심으로
본 연구는 최근 자기기입식 설문의 대안 혹은 보완으로서 관심이 높아지고 있는 심리생리적 측정방법을 이용한 우리나라와 미국의 커뮤니케이션 연구들을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 국내 커뮤니케이션 관련 저널에서 사용된 심리생리학적 측정 지표는 심박률이 가장 많이 관찰되었고 그 다음 피부전도반응이었다. 또한 비교적 다양한 연구자들이 심리생리학적 접근 연구에 참여하고 있었지만, 몇몇 심리학 연구자들에게 집중되어 있었다. 심리생리학적 연구가 측정 장비와 측정 방법에 대한 이해를 필요로 하기 때문이며 연구자의 개인적 관심사도 한 몫을 하는 것으로 생각된다. 연구의 대부분이 특정한 자극을 통해 수용자의 반응을 이끌어내는 실험을 중심으로 전개되었으며, 연구 주제나 실험물에 따른 심리생리학적 측정의 유용성이 달라질 가능성을 발견할 수 있었다. 미국의 경우에는 각성과 주의가 심리생리학적 측정의 주된 측정 변인이었으며, 감정적 반응 중에서는 명확하게 설명할 수 있는 제한적인 범위에서 심리생리학적 지표가 사용된 것을 발견하였다. 심리생리학적 지표가 연구의 중심적인 지표로 사용되었기보다는 자기보고식 설문과 함께 보완적으로 사용되거나, 기존의 측정방법에 추가적인 측정으로 사용하는 경우가 많이 관찰되었다. 또한 새로운 미디어에서 심리생리학적 측정의 사용 가능성이 검증되고 있다. 인터넷이나 게임 등 수용자의 반응이 비교적 직접적이고 강하게 관찰될 수 있는 연구에서는 심리생리학적 측정이 뚜렷한 결과를 나타내고 있다. 따라서 자극적으로 변하는 미디어 환경에서 어쩌면 심리생리학적 측정은 그 유용성을 찾을 수도 있을 것이다.

Analysis for Communication Research Using Psychophysiological Measures in Korea and the United States : Focused on Heart Rate, facial EMG and Skin Conductance
This study analyzed the psychophysiolosical approach by using heart rate, facial EMG, and skin conductance in communication research of Korea and the United States. According to the results, heart rate is watched most frequently in communication journal of Korea among three psychophysiolosical measures(heart rate, facial EMG, and skin conductance). And next psychophysiolosical measure is skin conductance. Many scholars participate in communication researches using psychophysiolosical approach, but psychophysiolosical researches were focused on specific several researchers based on psychology. It is that psychophysiolosical approach is needed special equipments and knowledge about method and process for measure. Especially, the interest of researchers were showed as important in psychophysiolosical researches. The most researches were spread experimental method and some possibility was showed the results depend on research theme or experimental process. In the United States, arousal and attention were main variable in psychophysiolosical measure. Psychophysiolosical index was used frequently with self-reported survey on complementary or additional basis. The interest thing is being examine the usefulness of psychophysiolosical measure in new media. The results of psychophysiolosical measure were showed clearly in some researches that response of audience will be observe exactly and directly. Therefore, the usefulness of psychophysiological measurement will be an important field in the rapidly changing media circumstances.
